After a lot of search, finally I’ve found a USB/SD video player kit.
This kit is priced a bit high at 480Rs(as of 09/2011), which seemed to be loot when I was buying this, but later it is realized how useful is this.
The kit consists of a mainboard, one interface board, one display board and one remote.
Interface board: This board consists of HT1628 IC which is a DVD LED Driver IC. The mainboard connects to this board with a ribbon cable and this board consists of IR sensor and display. Another ribbon cable connects this board with the interface board which has 6 keys and LEDs for the panel.
Main Board: The mainboard has two main ICs, one is Zoran ZR36988 DVD processor IC, and another is W9864G RAM. There is an LM1117-3.3 voltage regulator on board which provides 3.3V supply for all the internals. There are a few small ICs like video amplifier, FM receiver, etc.
The Zoran ZR36988 IC is a variant of the popular Zoran 36888 IC, which is a DivX certified media player IC. It supports playback of JPEG, MP3, WMA, and MPEG-1/2/4 files and the IC provides HDMI output, true 5.1channel output, etc extraordinary features.
Though in the board those features were not implemented and there is only stereo audio and video output enabled for TVs.

There is connector for both SD/MMC cards and USB port in the board. I’ve tested this board with my USB pendrive and MP4 and AVI video playback i good enough.
The IC is also used in modern DVDs so there would not be any problem in finding the IC if it damages. I guess that IC will cost around 250-300Rs.
Such kits are waste of money ... as long as itz hobby u can spend .Reasons
1.Amkette or other HD players come all readymade in 1500Rs . Why waste your money in 2 pieces of boards , Cost breakup is as follows 400boards +120 powersupply + casing 200Rs =800Rs box that looks like a tiffin box and plays ONLY few files , no remote , no LCD displays + Add LCD 800Rs = 1600Rs with all pain and labour what we will get , people dunt see these , only boards don’t make any useful thing

kaushik , let me know about ready made HD players which are available in the market and perform the same function as this device do.. means it directly attach to the tv and also not show any firmware. IF you know the SAME let me know about that..REPLY ASAP..

I got the kit with zoran 36966 ic which is a one pcb complete kit with an excellant front panel here in my locality.it is also available at chadney chowk kolkata.it cost here around 400 rs.who they want to make it can avail this board now.@kaushik nothing is sweeter than own effort.@thanx buddy keep going

can you provide me detail connection for output i.e sound and video connection. As i have seen this card it has provided two ribbon cable and two port connector but which are the sound and video wires i could not make it.
There are labels in PCB indicating the output pins.

Hey, I get this kit in Ulhasnagar for Rs.400/- with all set like it has inbuilt USB, Display Panel, all buttons with Remote control. I just used Nokia charger for 5V current and its works. I tested .dat, .VOB (DVD Format), AVI format, .mpg format and all these formats are running. Video quality is superb.

i also bought one mp4 player kit, when i connected 5v ps to the board it became on showing display as "set" but after few seconds display get blank and 5v power supply became 3.6v.my ps is of 1 amp. rating.pl.help me solving this problem.
Check for shorts in USB connection and try to power it on without card reader/usb drive as they may be drawing much power than the board can supply.

i want a usb video player which do not show any firmware and i also want to eliminate the loading, initialization things which are comes at the time of initialization of player.
And 1 more thing that the video which is in the usb always in repeat mode.

There are some branded ones that play HD video. Just search for USB media player in eBay.

Hi Arup My DVD Player board got demaged i got a replacement TAI8252RD Board . as per data it supports both WTP AD01 Lens as wellas Sony 313 Lens , however on connecting i found that my board worked only with sony 313 lens,
i want to know if somehow i can use the wtp aD 01 lens in this board.
