There are these types of mosquito killer racket are easily available in market at some 150 rupees.
This consist an electric fence in the bat portion which has 5000-10,000 volts passing through them. This is not only mosquito repellent, it’s insect zapper. When a mosquito gets in contact the high voltage burns it. The inner circuit consists of battery, a charging unit, and a HV inverter circuit, which I’m going to describe here.
Coil turns will be as described in text and not the one indicated in this tmage.
The circuit consists of a flyback topology transformer driven by a general NPN transistor 2SD965. The feedback coil of transformer is of 10 turns, the primary is of 40 turns and the output or secondary coil is of 450 turns. When this circuit is run by 3Volts, the transformer generates about 2000-4000 volts at zero load, and the output is then coupled 3 times by using 3 IN4007 diodes and suitable capacitors, thus reaching our need of 5000-10,000 volts.
Note: All diodes used in circuit are IN4007 diode, The transistor is 2SD965, and can’t be replaced by BC548, The transformer should be ferrite core.
Below an actual circuit board found in mosquito zapper rackets.
i need to boost the output of this circuit usinga 9v rechargeble cell. what changes should i make to this?
Just use 5 IN4007 diodes in series instead of one for all three diode's places. And feed 9V.
Beware, chance of lethal shock. !
Sir I want to know about my mosquito racket problem when I press the switch it does kill the mosquito and hissing sound is coming from the racket seems that it come from the pcb inside pls help me to solve this problem.
This sound is quite normal. This comes from the transformer. For a complete silent operation the transformer has to be made with much precise but then the cost will be huge.
Can anybody tell me about this circut, how it work?
HI. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIEVES IN MY BACKYARD. CAN I USE 24VDC POWER SUPPLY TO INCREASE THE POWER OF THE MOSQUITO KILLER RACKET TO PRODUCE HIGH VOLTAGE FENCE? HOW?
These rackets can't stop thieves.
I m 16 yrs old ....new to electronics field. I removed the battery from the racet. I want to charge it.
so how can I. N how much volt battery is it.?
Hi, Any chance you would have the time to provide me with the primary inductance and the operating frequency set by the transformer design and secondary load. is there a particular racket I could buy to obtain a working test board. Thanks, Mark
Get any model you get at the cheapest. The ratings, specifications doesn't matter.
thanks only

Can we use this to build a electric fence. Or can you suggest me a alternative for it.
Hi I am looking to build a electric fence out of the mosquito bat is it possible ? Of not can u suggest to me a solution ??? Awaiting your kind reply ASAP.
You can make a small electric fence using this. But for more voltage, couple another pair of diode/capacitor at the output.
Hi,
How to measure the volage of its output i tried to do with a multimeter but the multimeter is not working now.
The output voltage should be calculated theoretically because most multimeters can measure upto 1000V, and we are considering few thousand voltage.
hi friend,
Can u send me a circuit which is same as above but should run continuously from direct power 230v and if not power should run with battery and simultaneously should charge the battery.
Just directly supply 3V from AC adapter to battery terminals and your work done.
Can you please suggest me how to build a electrical fence charger for my farm. Any diagrams ??? Or can you suggest me where to buy them or can you build one for me. ????
Those are nothing but a large version of this same circuit.
it all worked for few days and stopped, changed the rechargeable battery but still not working.what is the first component to get burnt?how to check as there is danger of shock.!
Check the transformer and the driver transistor.
Hi i want to know that is it possible to make a fish shocker using this mosquito racket circuit??.
This circuit will not work in water as ordinary water will conduct the electricity and it will fail to maintain high voltage.
Hi, the explanation is really good. seems you are an electronic engineer. Can you let me know how can i make an electric fence using this?//
Use larger transformer and higher capacitor values to make it human fence.
Arup what if i replace 3v with a 4volt 1Amp small Lead acid battery costs rs50 ...coz due to 1 amp current it will last longer.....
You can do it without any problem.
One of my Mosquito rackets was damaged so I stripped out the power pack/circuit board.
I took some plastic conduit and pushed the circuit inside. Using a 3V regulator and feeding it through a small switch from the battery the power source was secure.
The high voltage outputs were carefully insulated using several layers of Heatshrink tubing and fed under the handlebars of my motorcycle where a single turn of bare wire encircles each grip.
Great anti-theft device around!
Hi Arup,
i got the rechargeable mosquito bat just 3 days back.It worked initially fine. Now it doesn't kill mosquitoes.
Just before dying out. It didn't produce the spark it usually does but it killed the mosquito enough power.
I felt the batteries would have died out. So i recharged for quite some time. But it's not working and it's not producing the oscillating sound anymore.
The recharging red LED and the green LED when we press the switch to kill the mosquito are working fine.
I haven't checked the batteries, Could that be batteries or even the transformer?
Open it and check batteries. Probably the batteries aren't being charged properly.
Transistor has gown. Replace with one but second shall have been gown if DISCHARGE REGISTER not placed in your circuit.
